Customising Essentials of Music Theory to Deliver Units of Work in Music

Course Outline:

This two hour course uses Essentials of Music Theory (EMT) to provide a hands-on workshop to create Units of Work (Lesson Plans) that can be used with their students covering various aspects of the music curriculum. This can be used to cover existing topics within EMT and/or create new topics that supplement the topics provided.
1. EMT Lesson Plans and how these are structured into Topics, Units and Volumes (15 mins)
2. EMT User and Group Maintenance to manage classes and students (15 mins)
3. Using an EMT Curriculum Guide (supplied with course), organise the available topics within EMT to create new Lesson Plans (60 mins)
4. Customise Lessons integrating into a Lesson Plan and deploying this Lesson Plan to one or more classes (25 mins)
5. Fill out a short evaluation form (5 mins)

Completing Customising Essentials of Music Theory to Deliver Units of Work in Music will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 2.2.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
